The National Safety Council is America’s leading nonprofit safety advocate.  We focus on eliminating the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths.  Through leadership, research, education, and advocacy, NSC focuses on areas where most unintentional injuries and deaths occur. 

We are currently looking for a Learning & Development Graphic Designer to join us in our mission to save lives and prevent injuries.

Position Highlights:
 

The Learning & Development Graphic Designer is responsible for developing visually compelling, instructionally aligned designs that support high-quality learning experiences across multiple training modalities. This role plays a key part in establishing and maintaining a consistent visual identity for all NSC training products, including digital learning, instructor-led materials, print publications, and other learner-facing assets.

The ideal candidate brings strong visual design expertise, experience with eLearning environments, and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, engaging graphics that enhance the learner experience.

What You’ll Do:

Design for Multiple Learning Modalities:

  • Produce high-quality visual assets for eLearning modules, instructor-led training, microlearning, video, and blended learning experiences using Articulate 360.
  • Create professional layouts and graphics for print deliverables such as participant guides, job aids, infographics, workbooks, and other training publications.
  • Experience in preparing files for print, determining print specifications and conducting press checks.
  • Transform complex information into learner-friendly, accessible visual formats.

Brand Consistency & Standards

  • Ensure consistency in the look and feel of all NSC training products across digital and print mediums.
  • Develop and maintain visual standards, style guides, templates, and design systems specific to training content.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure all training materials align with organizational branding and design best practices.

Collaboration & Production Workflow

  • Work closely with instructional design, editorial, subject matter experts, and product development staff to support high-quality learning products.
  • Provide creative expertise and recommendations on layout, graphics, and visual storytelling techniques.
  • Organize and maintain design files, asset libraries, and version control processes to support efficient workflows.

Tools & Technical Skills

  • Create digital assets using Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), PowerPoint, and related design platforms.
  • Develop graphics optimized for use in eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline or similar.
  • Ensure all visual designs meet accessibility guidelines, including color contrast standards and alternative text considerations.
We’re Looking for Someone with: 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience designing both eLearning and print products in a professional environment.
  • Portfolio demonstrating multi‑modality learning design work.
  • Strong understanding of storytelling through visual hierarchy, typography, layout, color theory, and branding.
  • Experience with instructional design team collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a professional environment.
  • Experience creating animations is a plus.
  • Must be comfortable leading the development of new design systems.
  • This is a remote position.
  • Salary for this role is $80,000.
